I find it a little too intensive, and I think they have a certain soil they use to manage the heavy plantings. I'm more of a traditionalist when it comes to gardening. I raised my beds mostly because my garden area is on a slope, so I had to level the planting beds without ruining the grade of the yard. There was also grass under all this, and throwing dirt over the top of it alleviated the pain of having to dig it all out.

The book I studied backward and forward and still reference from time to time is Ed Smith's Vegetable Gardeners Bible. I like the way it's laid out, very easy to read and re-read and it covers all the basics.Lori Borrillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01473963620475489332noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1632365925551722036.post-54071901166513280852011-07-18T14:43:49.714-07:002011-07-18T14:43:49.714-07:00Lori, did you use a particular book or strategy to...Lori, did you use a particular book or strategy to plan your gardens? A friend recommended Square Foot Gardening, which also uses raised beds. Just curious!Margaretnoreply@blogger.com
